Sergio Padilla

Sergio Padilla was born in Mexico in 1971 and earned a degree in Advertising. At the age of 20, he immersed himself in the art world as an art dealer. His passion for painting led him to study the great masters of contemporary art. Influenced by them and deeply involved in the art world, he decided to pick up a brush in 1991, creating his first painting in watercolour on cardboard.

However, life circumstances led him to set painting aside and continue working as an art dealer. In 2011, he came across an easel in an antique shop and decided to buy it. Standing before this remarkable wooden object, his desire to create was rekindled. He began painting with a palette knife, using oils on cotton canvas in an Impressionist style.

In 2012, he began exploring hyperrealism, which soon yielded significant results. In 2013, he participated in a group exhibition for the first time at the National Museum of Art (MUNAL). This opened doors for him in the United States, where he began exhibiting his work in galleries across several states, including New York, California, and Florida.

At the beginning of 2014, he began working with monochromatic chiaroscuro and decided to pay tribute to the great master Michelangelo. He painted a fragment of the famous sculpture Pietà in oil on cotton canvas, creating what would become one of the most significant works of his career. The painting was well received and praised by art curators and critics.
