La cita tendrá lugar el viernes 11 de mayo 2018 a las 19:00, y finalizará a las 22:00. El artista sueco Johan Wahlstrom pliega el paso del tiempo en su espacio visual. Con sus nuevas obras, Wahlstrom canaliza la naturaleza para simbolizar su interno estado emocional. Sus lienzos son intencionalmente enigmáticos. Las Figuras Ocultas logran la comunicación de emociones a través de elementos visuales, cambiando el entendimiento entre el artista y su tema anónimo. Las nuevas pinturas contienen patrones que difieren de las obras anteriores de Wahlstrom. Estos patrones derivan fuerza en su creación al mismo tiempo que comunican energía al espectador. Como resultado, casi colapsan bajo el peso de su propia ilegibilidad. Experimentamos una viva tensión entre el deseo de interpretar y de entender el retrato relativamente simple, al igual que su configuración. Su trabajo continua evocando un patrimonio cultural norteño. Transmitiendo las complejidades y distorsiones inherentes hacia nuestra propia experiencia cultural y temporal. Wahlstrom cree que estas obras inconscientemente han tenido su fuente en antiguas legendas. Finalmente con estas nuevas obras el artista rompe los límites de su anterior opus y su uso del espacio narrativo. Esto proporciona a su obra una intensidad palpable y una cierta incomodidad. Con ese nuevo trabajo, invita al espectador a meditar sobre su propio estado emocional. Johan Wahlstrom nació en 1959 en Estocolmo, Suecia, y es un artista de quinta generación. Aunque el arte estaba en su sangre, su primer camino creativo fue el Rock & Roll, donde tuvo una larga y exitosa carrera como tecladista y cantante, saliendo de gira con Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Mick Ronson y muchos artistas escandinavos. Tras 20 años, la vida del Rock & Roll lo superó. Wahlstrom se mudó a un pequeño pueblo de Francia donde no hizo nada más que pintar durante siete años, parte de este tiempo bajo la tutela del artista sueco Lennart Nystrom. Las pinturas narrativas y oscuras de cabezas y torsos, están inspiradas por lo críptico, a menudo irónicas críticas sociales que recoge en trozos de papel en su estudio. The event will take place on Friday 11th May 2018 at 19:00, and will end at 22:00. The Swedish artist Johan Wahlstrom folds the passage of time in his visual space. With his new works, Wahlstrom channels nature to symbolize his inner emotional state. His canvases are intentionally enigmatic. The Hidden Figures achieve the communication of emotions through visual elements, changing the understanding between the artist and his anonymous subject. The new paintings contain patterns that differ from Wahlstrom’s previous works. These patterns derive strength in their creation while communicating energy to the viewer. As a result, they almost collapse under the weight of their own illegibility. We experience a lively tension between the desire to interpret and understand the relatively simple portrait, as well as its configuration. His work continues to evoke a northern cultural heritage. Transmitting the complexities and distortions inherent in our own cultural and temporal experience. Wahlstrom believes that these works have unconsciously had their source in ancient legends. Finally, with these new works the artist breaks the limits of his previous opus and his use of narrative space. This gives his work a palpable intensity and a certain discomfort. With this new work, he invites the viewer to meditate on his own emotional state. Johan Wahlstrom was born in 1959 in Stockholm, Sweden, and is a fifth generation artist. Although art was in his blood, his first creative path was rock & roll, where he had a long and successful career as a keyboardist and singer, touring with Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Mick Ronson and many Scandinavian artists. After 20 years, the life of Rock & Roll surpassed him. Wahlstrom moved to a small village in France where he did nothing but paint for seven years, part of this time under the tutelage of Swedish artist Lennart Nystrom. The narrative and dark paintings of heads and torsos are inspired by the cryptic, often ironic social critics he collects on pieces of paper in his studio.
